LaFara creates sophisticated, complex, textured jewelry
of silver, 18K and 22K gold. Her attention to detail is outstanding.
All of LaFara's designs are one-of-a-kind or very limited editions.
Goldsmithing Technique used on these pieces:
Recticulation: This technique
creates a decorative veined or wrinkled effect on metal. The
surface of the gold or silver is heated with a jewelers torch
to just below the melting point to create unique one-of-a- kind
patterns on the surface of the metal.
Granulation: An ancient
technique in which small balls or pieces of high karet gold
are fused onto a base of gold or silver. A high level of torch
control is needed to fuse but not melt the gold high karet gold.
